Who are friends of timor?
We are really just that - friends of timor! We are a bunch of like-minded friends (individuals, organisations & alliances etc...) who have visited and experienced Timor Leste over the last couple of years and felt a special affinity for the country. We share a common passion and goal and that is to walk alongside this young nation and help her, in our own small little ways, as she embarks on the long and tough road to nation building. We welcome anyone to join us as partners here at friends of timor, just as long as you share a sincere and honest interest in helping Timor Leste.
This whole idea of starting the friendsoftimor.com website was conceived after we returned from one our recent trip to Timor Leste in 2005. We realised that instead of helping Timor Leste "inside" Timor, we can also be effective helping her "outside" of Timor since that's where most of us are based anyway. One of the best ways is simply to create a greater awareness of Timor Leste among people both here in Singapore and the region surrounding us. We do not plan to nor try to steer you in certain direction should you want to do something, if this whole exercise caught your attention and subsequently stirs you into action, then we would have accomplished our goals!

FriendsOfTimor.com website will be hosted by TOUCH Community Services International in the interim while we work out a plan to manage the site as it grows more extensive (we believe it will) in future.
Friends of Timor applauds and appreciates the active role of volunteers and partners, individuals or corporate in helping to make this dream a possibility. Special thanks must go to Ogilvy & Mather, Clear Channel, ZoCard, X-tra, Transformation Alliance, Active-Domain , Active-Venture and many individuals (whom we shall not mention names here) for contributing their valuable resources.
Finally, this website and all the contents, events, initiatives and activities mentioned are ALL work in progress. They are not the finished product yet but we are excited about what they will eventually evolved into! Who knows what might come out of this years down the road?
All comments and contributions to this website are more than welcomed.
(Thank you very much in Tetum).
