The Right Papers

Before you enter the Democractic Republic of East Timor, be sure you have the right papers.

There's no toilet paper on the road less travelled. Often, there's no toilet.

But there's plenty of bushes. Not to mention rocks, hills, trees, creeks, cliffs, beaches and wide open spaces.

In Eat Timor, nature calls in teh widest most eco-diverse way.

From smoky mountain peaks to tropical woodlands, from 'Australian' savannahs to alpine villages, from the sheltering Wetar Strait on the north coast to the unrestrained Timor Sea of the south shore.

Admittedly, air-conditioners and cafes are still novelties here. But we reckon our emerald hills and sapphire seas are fair compensation for the lack of conveniences.

Now back to the subject of toilet rolls: Don't forget them.

Or you might have to reach for our local paper, The Timor Post!

"EAST TIMOR - FOR THE TRAVELLER NOT THE TOURIST."
